Loved Walsh Cooks’ take on Duchess Bakes Shop after their first visit:
Finally, a bakery that gets it. They advertise on their website that they are unapologetic for using real butter in their products, and for that, we are thankful.
Amen!
I loved reading ShutterMaki’s blog post today. It was her first time in the shop; people’s first experiences are always so interesting. Here is a quote from her post:
The pain au chocolate with dark chocolate called for me, as did the mocha. Dark chocolate on the inside and sprinkles of dark chocolate on the outside was a chocoholic’s dream. I loved the fluffy, buttery pastry so much that I savored every bite. I’m not kidding, it was a sensational experience.
Local blogger Theo Psalios just paid us a visit. His blog post included this gem:
I would like to throw a bouquet to the people at Duchess Bake Shop for providing us foodies with such tantalizing treats. Day in and day out, their display cases are loaded with decadent pastries and baked lovelies from large to small and sweet to savory. You must see it with your own eyes and you won’t be disappointed.
Akeela and her friend Sarah visited Duchess for Sunday brunch. She shared the experience on her blog. Here’s is a quote:
I indulged in a scone and the most lovely chocolate eclair. It was actually the most perfect eclair, with the most delicate pastry with just the right amount of cream and glazed with chocolate.
Today we are celebrating Bastille Day. We were honored to have Lorraine Mansbridge from Global Edmonton visit us this morning. Here is the video:
Paige is a blogger who likes good food and traveling. As an out-of-town visitor, she decided to give Duchess Bakeshop a try. She wrote this review, accompanied by some great photos. Here is a quote:
The flavours [of the macarons] were strong but not artificial and the texture and size were perfect. If I lived in Edmonton, I would probably visit this sweet little cafe on a weekly basis.
When it comes to the “best of series’” it really depends who you ask. Rob Lightfoot pointed out that Duchess Bake Shop had actually won 1st place in the Golden Fork Awards for 2010, in both the Best Desserts and Best Sweets categories.
Every year SEE magazine puts out the Best of Edmonton; a look at the best the city has to offer. Duchess is proud to have made it to this year’s list; scoring second place in the “Best Bakery” category. Thank you to everyone who voted for us!
The only way to get me to run is to get me to run to Duchess Bake Shop.

If you pick up a copy of Edmonton’s Parlour magazine this month, you’ll find a two-page feature on Duchess Bake Shop. Here’s a quote:
The door opens and my world transforms into a perfect Parisian paradise. Soft sounds of French music sprinkle the background; the smells of sweet of savoury treats fill my nostrils.
