Kassandra gives Duchess a great a profile in her latest blog post:
The Salgado preview was set at Duchess Bake Shop on 124 Street downtown. Their delicious treats and beautiful decor was the perfect backdrop for Genette’s preview. They have a wide selection of scrumptious treats, including: macarons, cookies, cakes, and meringues. My new favourite is the Paris-Brest. I can’t explain to you how mouthwatering this treat is. I suggest you stop by, you won’t be disappointed.
Lightside Photography is doing a blog series called “30 Days of Edmonton.” On Day 8, they featured Duchess Bake Shop, and a really in-depth interview with Garner. The interview covers the history of the shop, and how it was originally inspired. Here’s Garner talking about ingredients:
“The butter we get is from New Zealand, it’s amazing stuff, the Canadian butter by contrast just doesn’t cut it. It’s a 3 or 4 percent difference in butter fat content, which doesn’t sound like much, but it makes a big difference.”
Really great stuff. Thanks to Lightside for doing such a great job.

Loved Walsh Cooks’ take on Duchess Bakes Shop after their first visit:
Finally, a bakery that gets it. They advertise on their website that they are unapologetic for using real butter in their products, and for that, we are thankful.
Amen!
I loved reading ShutterMaki’s blog post today. It was her first time in the shop; people’s first experiences are always so interesting. Here is a quote from her post:
The pain au chocolate with dark chocolate called for me, as did the mocha. Dark chocolate on the inside and sprinkles of dark chocolate on the outside was a chocoholic’s dream. I loved the fluffy, buttery pastry so much that I savored every bite. I’m not kidding, it was a sensational experience.
Local blogger Theo Psalios just paid us a visit. His blog post included this gem:
I would like to throw a bouquet to the people at Duchess Bake Shop for providing us foodies with such tantalizing treats. Day in and day out, their display cases are loaded with decadent pastries and baked lovelies from large to small and sweet to savory. You must see it with your own eyes and you won’t be disappointed.
