International Macaron Day 2017

We are very excited to be participating in International Macaron Day again this year at the Bake Shop! Le Jour du Macaron (Macaron Day) was started in 2005, by king of macarons Pierre Hermé as a way of supporting important causes. Along with peoples’ love of the little treat, Macaron Day has spread around the world, with many bakeries and patisseries running their own special events and charitable promotions.

This coming Sunday, March 19th, we will be partnering up once again with the Bissell Centre, donating a portion of proceeds from all macaron sales to support the amazing work that they do. But that’s not all… just like last year, we will be offering one special edition macaron FREE to each customer who stops by the Bake Shop (while supplies last). This year’s special flavour is Root Beer Float, the perfect thing to ring in the equinox and welcome the first days of spring!

And just in case you were worried that root beer means artificial flavours, we actually make our own root beer syrup in-house. A long list of dried herbs, spices, and barks go into our brew, creating a unique, but unmistakable root beer flavour. We then surround that syrup with a rich vanilla bean buttercream, the final step in creating that root beer float flavour of our childhoods!

We hope you come by and taste for yourself on Sunday!
